Still with Us in the Stars

Dear Beloved Blog Readers of Mark Utter,

It’s been a year since our dear friend Mark dispersed back into the universe.

This morning, when I went out to walk our dog, it was still dark. I looked up—and for the first time this season, I saw the constellation Orion beaming down at me. Orion was an important character during the chapter of our lives when we were working on Mark’s movie. It felt fitting that here he was, looking down on us from the sky. Still present. Still there in the cosmos.

At lunchtime, Thomas joined me at Hula, and we sat at the table with one of Mark’s drawings. Somehow, we started assigning the different figures in the picture to parts of Mark that are still out there helping with things. The red one is addressing issues in Washington, D.C. The green ones are assisting Thomas when he travels to places like Montreal. We decided the orange one supports parties.

We propped Mark’s picture up on a windy day by the lake he loved so much.

Yesterday, Champlain Voices put on a fantastic Halloween Party. It all happened—games, dancing, costumes, socializing, laughter. Yes, Mark’s orange character must have been there too.

There are still more characters to name. So, whatever you’re missing in your life right now—something you’d like a little Mark Utter wise energy for—go ahead and claim it for your support.

Sending lots of love out to you all as we move forward without hearing Mark’s laugh on earth, reading his wise words, or dancing with him at a party. But I know he’s still with us. Connect in and you’ll feel him.

Have fun!

Much love to all,

Emily and Champlain Voices
