Mark recently met with 2 classes of students from Edmunds Middle School who had just watched his movie. They had a conversation at the Fletcher Free Library. You can read it below.

Mark's talk with two classes from Edmunds Middle School- October 10, 2019

Mark- I am so happy you are here.

Big wish to ask you each to share your name and really nice thought about my movie.

(Everyone in room shares their name and most share a thought about the movie. There were many and on a variety of topics)

Oh, I am totally delighted to meet u all and hear your good thoughts about my movie.

Want to thank you for the most wonderful list of questions that Mr. Chandler sent me.  Joyfully I will answer them but right now let me hear the questions you are thinking in your heads right now.

Q- How long did it take for you to make your movie?

Mark- It took two years to type it and two more to will it into a movie.

Q- What inspired you to make your movie?

Mark- I needed people to know that I and many other people like me are smarter than we seem at first.

Q- While making your movie was there ever a time when you wanted to give up?

Mark- I must say that the whole long people knowing we did made it easy to know we would have a movie eventually.

Q- Do you ever have times when people do something to you that you don't like?

Mark- I try to be dreadfully scary to bullies and it confuses them and they float away.

(The YES/NO board is introduced and students ask a variety of great YES/NO questions that Mark answers demonstrating his use of the board. Some of them require follow up thoughts such as the following)

Q- Do you like talking to students?

(Mark points to 'NO' on his board)

Mark- Oh, just pulling your leg.

Q- Do you like living with your mother?

(Mark points to 'YES' on his board)

Mark- I must tell you that she died but she is still with me.

(It's time to wrap up, though many more students have things they want to ask)

Mark- I am very happy about this chat.

In 7 years of teaching college I honestly can’t remember the last time I had a guest speaker in class who had this kind of overwhelming response from ALL the students.
